Here are just a few of the reasons why trees are so important and beneficial;
- Gives us the air we breathe! Not only do trees take carbon dioxide out of the air in the process of photosynthesis to make energy for themselves, the process also releases oxygen back into the atmosphere. Great for us because we can’t live with out it.
- Trees provide shade, blocking UV rays, and lowering air temperatures. Everyone seeks a shaded parking area for their vehicle because they know their car will not be as hot inside.
- Trees provide dwellings for a huge list of wildlife!
- Tons of everyday items are made out of trees, from pencils to entire homes. Sustainably sourced, trees provide an endless supply of creative material.
Topping is perhaps the most harmful practice known in arboriculture. Yet, despite more than 25 years of literature and seminars explaining its harmful effects, it still remains a common practice and is frowned upon by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)
Topping is not only unsightly, but it puts excess stress on the trimmed tree putting you as well as your property at risk! Trimming in this manner removes a tree’s canopy by indiscriminately cutting branches down to stubs, removing most of its leaves, (where photosynthesis and energy creation occurs), forcing it into survival mode. The tree sends off a multitude of new shoots near the surface of the old branch to create a new canopy rather than developing in the socket of overlapping wood tissue. These babies are barely anchored to the outermost layers of the parent branches, making them weak and prone to breaking.
We commonly hear; “My tree is too big”, “ My tree is too tall”, “It’s the only way”, and to that, we say its NOT. There are many alternatives to topping and recommended techniques arborists use to reduce the height and spread of a trees canopy in a way that does not harm your tree. Although the best way is prevention, meaning do your research and choose a tree which at maturity will fulfill your purpose/ desires for having planted it, while taking into account the surrounding landscape, structures, and views. This being said, we are confident in coming up with a proper plan of action for your trees.

Using a non-certified tree climber could have detrimental effects for the future of your tree. Hiring an ISA certified arborist is the best for many reasons.
- Local arborists can provide the knowledge and experience to properly care for the trees in your area.
- Well cared for trees are attractive and can add considerable value to your property
- Poorly maintained trees can be a major liability and on a larger scale negatively impacts the tree population by allowing stressed trees to be a hub for pests and diseases that can spread to other trees.
- Trained and equipped to do the work safely.

By definition an Arborist is an individual trained in the art and science of planting, caring for, and maintaining trees, as well as having passed a comprehensive exam posted by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). In practice, an Arborist is a lover of arboriculture, who works hard to protect the vitality, beauty, and safety of trees.
